When the warm weather hits, I love being outside — but only once my patio is actually clean.

If you saw my segment on The Good Stuff, you know I’m not an “outdoor activity” person — I’m a “sit outside with a book and iced coffee” person. So before I can enjoy my space, I always take a bit of time to freshen it up.

Here are a few quick and easy ways to get your patio summer-ready.

1. Streak-Free Windows in Minutes

I always start with the windows. It’s amazing how much dirt builds up over the season, especially if you live in a condo or near a busy street. Clean windows make the biggest difference in how your whole space feels.

Here’s what I do:

  • Mix water and a little vinegar in a spray bottle.
  • Mist the glass and use a microfiber pad to wipe away the dirt.
  • Then, use a window vacuum to pull away the water — it’s basically a squeegee that does the work for you.

It’s fast, streak-free, and you can use it inside too (on mirrors, shower glass, or patio doors).

2. Refreshing Patio Cushions

If your cushions have been sitting outside, they’ll probably need a good refresh — and yes, this works even if they look fine at first glance.

Here’s the easiest way to do it:

  • Mix a little warm, soapy water.
  • Take a microfiber cloth and wrap it around the lid of a pot — it turns into a DIY scrubber that helps you get into seams and corners.
  • Wipe the cushions in circular motions, then let them air dry in the sun.

It’s quick, satisfying, and perfect for those days when you just want everything looking clean without dragging out a full bucket and brush.

3. Clean and Refresh Patio Floors

If you like to go barefoot outdoors (same here!), you’ll want to give your patio floors a good clean.

Start by sweeping away loose dirt and debris with a lightweight push broom. If you don’t have a pressure washer — or can’t use one in a condo — grab a bucket of soapy water instead.

Use your broom or a scrub brush to wash the surface, then rinse lightly and finish with the broom’s built-in squeegee to push off excess water. It makes drying faster and keeps water from pooling in corners.

4. Keep It Simple

The trick with patio cleaning is not to overthink it. You don’t have to do everything at once — just pick one task at a time. Start with your windows one day, tackle the cushions the next, and finish with the floors.

By breaking it down, it doesn’t feel overwhelming, and your outdoor space will stay clean and ready to enjoy all summer long.
